Thank you all for the help with my fuel tank trouble. I think I am going to buy a new one. Should I get a new bowl? I don"t understand how this works as a filter is there any other filter? I may as well rebuild the carb there are two kits not so major and major witch should I get? One last question how do I find out the year of my tractor so these parts can be ordered? Tank you all again the 8n roockie

bought a new one online for $135 and put it on myself(not to hard to do). I changed out the sediment bowl (the filter on it was rusted away, which can cause clogs because the rust settles where your fuel should be going through)and the filter at the carburetor. Have not had a problem since!! and loving the seat time. Worth the money in my opinion and I won't have to worry about it, I hope, for another fifty years.

Just my opinion, I've heard good and bad about liners.

Good luck

Woodie

Hey, congratulations on having your "dream tractor"! Hang in there, as I know you'll get it all squared away and then you'll be having a GREAT time! :-) And meanwhile, I hope you can have fun learning all about how it's put together. (So far I have only learned how mine comes apart, but I'm not done yet. Grin.)

Dawn

It can be cleaned and lined but its hard werk and if not done rite will come back and bite ya. Por-15 kit will cost ya around $50 then yer time. I don't like the Kreem brand of liner it may be my eyes but I like the look and feel of the por-15 product. I don’t like a dirty fuel system especially when I know it will haunt me for ever, shop around for a deal on a new tank replace the old one and move on, of repair yours to save a few bucks, either way you recognize the problem how you fix it izz yer call.

Lots of ways to clean the tank. Some folks put ball bearings or BB's in them & ride the tank around on the back of another tractor for a few hours. I saw a pic here on the board where someone tied a tank w/ ball bearings in it to the rear tire of a tractor w/ bungee cords, jacked the wheels off the ground & started the tractor. Other folks take them to radiator shops & get them boiled out & lined; still others line them themselves. I've been real lucky w/ my three N's; I replaced the screens in the sediment bowls and the brass elbows in the carbs & haven't had any problems.....yet! Probably just a matter of time.
