I had an issue with my valves sticking. With the Forums help and a lot of MMO, the 1940 9N is running. Someone mentioned that one of the caused for valves sticking could be the type of gas. That so, I have a few questions.

What is the right type of gas and what should I add to it - non-oxygenated gas with MMO?
Do I need to add MMO or a lead substitute?
Do I need to but in a high octane (more than 87)?
If the Tractor sits for months at a time do I also need to fog the cylinders?
Could these gas related observation have anything to do with sticking valves”
There is a varnish like substance that forms on the sediment bowl
There is the gray sludge in the bottom of the sediment bowl

Thanks

87 octane is fine.. the gas, when your tractor was built was much lower.

No lead addatives.. they aren't needed.

if you store gas.. use a stabilizer.. like stabil.. helps prevent fuel decay and varnish.

A can of fuel system cleaner and drier every now and then sure won't hurt.. even if it don't help much.

I wouldn't fog anything if I used it a few times a year..e tc.

I use MMo periodically.. can't hurt.. seems to help..

That's mostly opinion.. but's been doing' good for me for years.

if you have this problem it would be wise to turn your fuel flow off and let tractor run till engine dies, especially for longer no run periods. like you would do a boat motor.

Gas these days ain't like it was back in the Good Old Days! For many reasons..mostly environmental & gummint, fuel is really suck these days! (If u can find/afford it, that is, hehehe) I have a vehicle that needs Premium Gas 2 run, and the Premium these days is a Pale Imitation of the Premium Go-Juice back in the days the car was built!!
