Hello, just trying to figure out what I have here. I have my grandfather old trator that is either a 9n or 2n. I'm just a little lost with the serial number. This is what it read on the block,(stamp) *9n 75*, and it has a freeze plug on the left side in the center, A book I have says that this didn't happen until 1940 but one guy told me that this is a 1939 block.

Does it have a push starter button on the left side of the dash and a key switch on the right side of the dash and what number is stamped in fron of the steering wheel in the middle of the dash and a snap in hood battery lid?

antster, from what I gather from the number you give and the info given on John Smiths site I take it that you have a 1939 9N very close to the beginning of production. Number 75 to come off the assemble line. By this being what his site states::::: 1939 Serial number 9N1 - 9N10275

Looks to me like you have a 1941 9N= 1941 ser #'s began with 45976 and 1942 began with 88888. Therefore I would say yours is a 1941, wouldn't you?

Do you think that this could be the last tractor to come out in 1940. Since the last number is 45975 and my serial number is *9n75*?

Look on the left of this page under research &info then click on ford then on 9N etc and look up the number there. It will tell you what year engine it is if not what year tractor
