Someone working on a new house fell into a piece of equipment. One of the wifes girlfriends was on the way home from doing a little fishing and went to help. She is not really sure but thinks it was some sort of shredder. She said he ended up with a good sized rod in his leg. They could not get the rod out of his leg. Then ended up torching the rod off the machine. To make matters worse he would not fit in the ambulance becuase the rod was to long. So they had to cut the rod with the torch closer to his leg. Anytime something like this happens I take it as warning and pray for the person to have a speedy recovery. I saw the machine and also have no idea exactly what it is. But it could have been worse.

BOLT CUTTER, All fire and rescue teams have bolt cutters. In this accident it sounds as if they used what they had to do what they had to do.
Good luck to this guy, a penatration wound of this type is quite difficult to maintain from infection. Constant cleaning and fresh bandages along with high doses of antibiotics. Hopefully no bones were broken on damaged which could increase the danger. Prayers for this guy, Good luck, jackie.

Man, looks like a sawz-all would have been more appropriate for that job.

Chopsaw might have been to much of a vibration or put "weight" on the rod trying to cut through adding pain or more damage. Other than the possible heat, a gas cut would have been the way to go.
