My original saga is probably on page 4 by now. subject "my simple tune-up".
It was in the terminal post area in the side mtg dist. The thin rectangular insulation piece inside the dist had a crack under the brass screw causing it to track to grd.You couldn't tell by looking at it--took it all apart to find it-than replaced with a bigger insulation pc from my buddies electric motor repair shop.I could see how someone could go buy a new dist and it would work.thanks again. --PeP

Good idea to check distributor with a VOA meter for continuity (points closed) and ground (points open) whenever you mess with it or whenever you have no spark. I always do it - especially since I have a front mount & I want to make sure everything is OK before I bolt'er back on.

Yep that problem is one that is hard to find and most people never even think about that being a problem. I've seen it more then once and as I said it will drive you crazy when you know every thing is right but you still can't get spark because if that insulator

Yep. Happened to me and my tractor mechanic/friend. Like to drove us 'N'uts because he had forgotten his test light. Cost us an hour of frustration and bafflement. First thing I look at now when I pop the cap. lol

really off here, but I went thru something with a buddy of mine earlier this week with a goosenck trailer, he was rewiring it, I went over to help him out, we couldnt get a left directional or brake, it was dodge 2003 2500, some of the wiring looks coroded already, so we figure it was a wire broken, went to the wiring harness, up to the front block,,, after a few hrs of ugh,,,, I said just for the heck of it lets look for a fuse, because we had it to the truck just not the trailer, low and behold, fuses for teh left and right trailer lamps, man drove us nust for a few hrs, ... if I was a drinking man I would say that was a good excuse for a cold one, have a good one pat

Right-on. Nothing like a little chagrin to keep a guy humble.
