How much for a Jubilee??

I'm hoping I can get some help on making an offer on this tractor:
I just stopped at a place where I saw the tractor in the back yard. It is not "up for sale" in the formal sense but the owner is willing to talk because he might be moving

Jubilee (I'm not sure of what year) with side step loader with "Ford" in block letters on loader and bucket;
Power steering
Has been turned into a "blue belly" and 12 volt.
Tin is perfect except for a bunch of small dings on the lower part of the fenders which look like tire chains slapped them a bit. No rust or holes but was definitely painted since the raised Ford script is gray
1100 on the working proofmeter which doesn't look new
Has been used for last 7 years (according to owner) to cut grass with a rear pto driven five foot finish mower
Starts immediately (he says it always has been a good starter); power steering and loader seemed to work well on short drive I took
He has never (!) changed the oil or the filter or checked the trans or hydraulic or rear end fluids; 3 pt seems to come up very slowly.
Says he adds a quart of oil each time he fills the fuel tank (the oil on the dipstick looked clear and golden)
Says he has never used the loader (the bucket has a very few scratches in what looks like original paint and no signs of metal wear or dings)
The bucket has two actuator cylinders so I assume it is power down; the loader cylinders and selector valve assembly have almost no dirt or sign of leaky hydraulics
Says he paid $7000 for it 6-7 years ago with the loader, bucket and rear finish mower; the owner says "I probably paid too much but thats the way I am. I don't expect to get that much for it".
The tractor is in rural Illinois. It has the virture of being about close to home. . . so it would be no problem for me to pick up.
Rear tires are 50-60%; front tires are 90%; the wheels are not loaded

So, folks, what would the range of dollars you would offer on this be??

Thanks for your help.

Ok, guys
Here (as we used to say)is the "skinny".
It is a Jubilee/NAA with a rusted out right foot-rest tool box.
The power steering is a belt driven unit with a resevoir and is mounted up front on the right so it must be an add-on. Best of all it works great. . . so far!
The serial number from the owners bill of sale says Serial# 137608; does anyone know the ending serial # for the NAA?
The hyd. pump is the pos. displacement, not the vane
The mower is a 5' BEFCO (which I never heard of before)
The loader is a yellow Ford 19-529; can anyone tell me about it. It has power down on the bucket; I say that not because I was alert enough to check the hoses, but because with the bucket flat on the ground you can use the bucket dump valve to lift the front of the tractor. The bucket is a Ford (does 18-119 make sense?) and is a little over 5 feet wide. Bigger and heavier than I need; I'll probably be looking for a smaller one.
It has a heavily overpainted aux. hydraulic output under the seat. Doesn't have the knob handle I've seen on the Selec-trol. This one has a short vertical spring and a short crude looking vertical lever on the right of the assembly. Anyone know what it might be?
It is five miles from my home; I might have gotten it for less but I paid him 5 big ones! At long last I have a decent size loader with P.S.!!

Thanks to all for your help
Austin

I paid $4800 for a '53 Jubilee with Sherman over/under transmission, 5' finish mower and a back blade five miles from home. (Drove it home.) The hydraulic pump had been changed to the new type and the owner said the engine had been rebuilt just before he got it. Oil pressure is high. Starts instantly cold or hot. Pulls and lifts well. Lift hicchoughs a bit. The tractor started well and ran quietly. The tractor looked good but the owner seemed not to know much about it except that it had always worked well for him. I have put two new front tires and a proof meter on it, changed all fluids and patched a small radiator leak. Now have forty hours of my own on her and think I got a reasonable deal for around here since there seem to have been no hidden problems. Looks like every previous owner has gobbed on paint, so the metal has been well protected.

There are a couple of other Jubilees around here for sale for a bit less money but which appear to have been subject to more neglect. I needed a working tractor while rebuilding Dad's 2N and my old 640.

I rationalize that the finish mower and blade were worth $1000, so I got the tractor for $3800, but I'm kidding myself. It would take a good bit more than $4000 to get me to part with it now.

You should check the hydraulic pump. If it is the original vane type pump, it is virtually impossible to fix, replace or rebuild the pump. Nobody sells the units or rebuild kits. You can tell if it is the vane style pump because it will have a knob at the front of the pump to adjust the flow of oil. You can replace the pump with the piston type pump, if you can find one. You will need new lines from the pump to the back of the tractor. Plenty of people sell the rebuild kit and new lines for the piston type pump. As far as the cost, late last fall I bought a Jubilee that did not run, had no oil pressure, the hydraulics did not work, and the sheet metal was all banged up. I paid $1700 on a gamble that everything could be fixed. I was very lucky to find a salvage yard that sold me piston pump from a NAA, with the new lines for $300. I replaced the vane pump with the piston pump, rebuilt the oil pump, banged out and finished the metal, put new front tires on it, and replaced the points, condensor and coil. I then painted the tractor by hand. I intend to use the tractor all the time so it didn't matter to me that it was not a professional paint job. (It turned out quite nice in any event). The total cost of the renovation was around $500. I still have to replace the ring in the hydraulic piston because the lift hiccups a bit. Everything else works and looks like new. I think I lucked out, and it is a nice comparison to my '47 8N. Good luck.

I rebuilt a vane type pump for a guy I know at work and the parts are avialable. You need to have all the stamped information off the old pump. Somewhere, I have the basic model number and the other information off the pump is needed to pin down the exact pump you have. If I can find it I will post the model #.

Tom, thanks for the comments. I called all over the country looking for the rebuild kits for the vane type pump. Where can I find one? I have the updated version with the thicker/larger vanes. Also, I will need a new shaft. If I can fix it I would like to sell it since they go for significant money. Thanks.

Michael-

I bought my Jubilee last fall. Previous owner had the vane pump rebuilt, but did not install it. Had to do that myself, plus a little more. The receipts he gave me with the tractor show purchases from Weinman Pump and Supply Company. Address is 78 John Glenn Drive, Amherst NY. Phone (716) 691-3131. Previous owner said they were an authorized Vickers vane pump repair shop. Hope that helps.

Mike, thank you very much. I will give them a call to see if they have the rebuild kit. If so, the rebuilt pump is then worth several hundred dollars. I will let you know.

Here in Texas a Jub w/mower would bring about $4500, good used loader would go for $450-$500.

Sounds a little high for Western NY. Average might be $3500-4000 tractor & mower. If ya gots ta have it (and no one blames ya), make the offer. However, if you wait until the owner does move, he might be more receptive to a lower price. Good tractor deals will always come up sporadically, but usually not when you are seriously looking. Monday, I was 15 minutes late to a Ford 600 (that I really didn't NEED) with bush hog, back blade, rear scoop, disks and post hole digger. Seller asked $3800 for all. As I was pulling up, someone else was writing the check. I should have left work 1/2 hour early and it would have been mine.
LOL ;^))
