I wanted some automotive type tires for the front of my 8N so I could mow in the yard. I bought new 16" wheels from a local dealer and a decent set of P225x16 tires altho I was afraid they were so wide they would rub the spindle. Sure enough they did. Took them back and got P215x16 and they rub too. What size tires will work?

215/70R/16 works on the front of my 48 8N--even with a front loader. They are on 4.5 inch rims and look close but no interference.

Could it be that your spindles or wheel bearings are really worn?

My 48 8N has 600X16 light truck tires. There is not much clearance, but they do not rub at all, even under extreme work conditions.

I did the same thing with my 48 8N. I just fliped the rims around and they don't rub. If this was a car I might be afraid to do this. But the tractor doesn't go that fast. I do check the lug nuts regularly. It also give the tractor a wider front for better stability.
