I just removed the rod bearings from the crank and I was wondering if anyone can tell what size they are. They are stamped "Clevite Micro" on one end and "1 72-CB 200 M" on the other. Does this tell if they are standard or oversized? Or does it mean anything at all? I dont have a MIC to check the size of the journal and the block is still connected to the rest of the tractor. I am really just wanting to re-sleeve it, but I thought I would see about the bearings at the same time. Any suggestions? Thanks.

realtech..... ...while the additional cost of rodbearings is "trivial" ($6 ea, cheap) and should probably be replaced since yer removing the pistons to re-sleeve; unless yer an experienced engine rebuilder with good micrometer "feel"; don't guess as to bearing size. (rod journal = 2.094, main = 2.248 to 2.249)

But I would recommend "plasti-gauge" ($5, cheap, ask at yer local engine machineshop store) all bearing clearances. (rod bearing clearance = 0.001 to 0.00135, mains = 0.001 to 0.003) This will tell you iff'n you really need to replace bearings and/or re-grinding the crankshaft journals due to taper and wear.

As for "mike-ing" the journals, you'll probably haffta "hire" an experienced engine rebuilder to make a "housecall" or is that tractor-call? They do make roadtrips, ask. (they want yer business)..... ...Dell

You really need to mic the rod journal if you are planning a replacement. The CB-200 is a standard insert for the rod diameter of 2.0935-2.0945". The journal is probably worn egg shaped and tapered so you really don't want to throw in a set of bearings and hope for the best.
