Rubber pretty bad all the way around my 1950 8N. Got inner tube showing through in at least one spot on a front tire, mismatched sizes on fronts, and lots of wear, cracks, etc., all the way around. At least one bent spot in one front rim where someone probably hit a rock sometime in the past - think I can hammer it out. Lots of mesquite, cactus, and other puncture hazards on my place. I've heard a couple of opinions on foam filled tires - one school of thought is only need to do the front tires, other is do it all the way around. Planning to replace all tires sometime in the next several months. Questions: are there places that I can take all four wheels to get them cleaned up (some rust, old paint, etc.) and repainted for reasonable prices, or is this something I can do myself (how?), and if going to foam filled, should it be all four tires or only the fronts? Not planning any high speed road travel, and if foam adds ballast, might be a good thing. My grandaughters held the flashlight and handed me tools while I changed the gasket and screen on the sediment bulb last Saturday - it fixed the leak and now they are offically assistant mechanics! Thanks for all the good information I get off this formum.

ALL of the slow speed tires on MY place are foam filled EXCEPT the rear/ag bar 24's and 28's. At a buck and a half a lb for foam, I can't even imagine how much it would cost to fill a rear. Matter of fact...don't WANT to know! NO flats! NO down time, and NO aggravation. The guy I use doesn't care if the tire is tubeless or tubed. If the tube is no good, he puts a LOT of FAST air pressure in and then pulls the stem. Most of them come back from his shop with the 16 penny nail still in them and I just leave it to remind me that it is now puncture PROOF.

I had 1 front tire most prone to flats due to it being the leading tire at the creek lines and tree lines. It works great. They replaced the tube before they filled due to it got pinched at removal. The tire was weather cracked but in decent shape, lots of tread. They poke holes in the tire and tube so air isn't trapped. They fill it completely. It cost me @ $90.00 w/tube. Not cheap. If I ever get the money, I'll do the rest. I want the added weight as well. The foam rubber is HEAVY and solid. Your tires need to be in decent shape. If the tire comes apart after filling, you've wasted alot of money. It stretches the tire alot. There must be alot of pressure when filling. I wouldn't hesitate to fill new tires. They should last forever. HTH

I don"t know about the foam, but I did dismount the tires from the front with tire irons and a lot of sweat. I wire brushed my rims with a drill powered wire brush, sprayed on rust convertor, primed and painted the insides, bought new tubes and tires and remounted them.
I pinched one tube patched it but it still went down, so I put in another new tube. So far so good. I will leave the back tires to the pros.
But don"t be afraid to wire brush and paint.

My Valve Stem is leaking in the rear... Anyone know where I can find a tube? Also, what are the names of the places that are doing foam so I can seek them out in my area. (reno NV)? DOes it make it heavier or different to drive?
