Anybody know what the bore diameter is suppose to be for the crank end of a 8N rod? Mine are all over the place. One rod had .010 shims on both sides between the cap and rod. Crank is .030 under and looks good.

Also noted "shiney" spots on the bearings. Looks like maybe chips ftrom crank grinding never cleaned from oil passages or burrs on oil passage chamfering. Hqard to believe this motor carried 45 pai oil pressure at 1000 RPM hot.

Thanks for the help.

I second what Bob said. The specs are as follows: NO SHIMS ANYWHERE. Standard shaft size = 2.0935/2.0945. Housing bore = 2.2195/2.2200.
Oil clearance = .0005/.0025. Maximum wall thickness of bearing = .0623 (That's at the crown, not the ends of the bearing halves. Use a ball micrometer to measure.) Bearing length = 1.130.

I would suggest having an automotive machine shop re-work the rods.

Obviously, the bearing bore is critical, and they will also check the rod for staightness, and install and fit new wrist pin bushings.

All of this requires the specialized equipment they will have.

ANd, they will have the "specs".

Thanks for the help. I'll get my sleevs, pistons, rings, rod bearings and new rod bushings and then have a local shop insert the bushings and resize the rods and check um,
