Just got off Eastwoods website and watched how easy the powdercoat stuff works. This seems like it would be 100 times easier and faster than the pains I go through to paint. They always show bare metal though so it seems like the surfaces must be perfect.

My question is about color. Does anyone know how to match the red and grey of the Red Belly and Battleship grey of the 9N/2N?

Powdercoat???? All my experence has been poor. If it is exposed to the weather and one nick, it will rust through and through. Also how do you touch it up? My trailor wheels are powercoated. All are rusted. I am going to (one at a time ) remove tire, sand blast, prime and paint, reinstall each tire, and remount on trailor!!!!! !! Lot of work . JUST my 2 cents worth.

Hi Rick,

I didn’t know there was another Rick Ga. on the N board; pleased to meet you.

I"ve been away from the forum a while since my interest have shifted away from old tractors a bit; although I still love my 1949 8N and 1953 Jubilee.

In regards to your question on paint color, I think the "right color", per-se, is rather subjective and it is entirely up to you as to what you think is closest to the correct color.

On my 8N, I used automotive grade acrylic enamel and got the paint store to show me a color chart with the possible correct colors. The red I chose was very close but the gray was a little on the light side; anyway, it turned out great in my view. On my Jubilee, I purchased the red paint at Tractor Supply and got the MF red; I purchased the old ford grey at New Holland and the combination turned out pretty good in my view.

I’ve read here on the forum and elsewhere that the actual shades of red and gray changed a bit from time to time at the original Ford factory.

Hope this helps.

Rick
