My father in law died leaving me in charge of upkeeping mother in laws 8n. I am fairly new to tractors and am unsure of maintanance to be performed. I am handy mechanically but unfamiliar with this tractor. Iam particularly interested in fluid maintanance [gear oil, hydraulics]. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. thank you

That's like getting an 8N for free. In exchange for all your maintenance labor, you should get some sort of assurance that you get to keep the tractor when the current owner no longer "needs" it. Another source of info is the archives of this discussion board. There have been numerous discussions regarding hydraulic/transmission/gear oil.

As already stated, a manual will undoubtedly help you. But you can also find maintenance info at several N-sites, including the one below...

You need to purchase a manual for your 8N, you can order one right here at YTMag. Good luck, Marc
