I have had a problem with my 9N overheating over the last few years. I usually tighten the belt and we were off and running. This summer it gone more serious. While bushhogen it would overheat in about 15 minutes. Thinking it was the radiator, I took it off the tractor but it appear to be moving the antifreeze through pretty well. I'm guessing the next step is to check out the waterpump. Am I right?
Also, do I had to worry about cracking the block with all of the overheating?

Thanks Bruce, I appreciate the advise. I would never have thought about over filling but it may be that simple. As long as I have the radiator out I'll have it seerviced. Thanks again.

Usually, a water pump will make noise and/or leak before it just stops pumping. Usually, but not always. The most common cause of an N overheating is overfilling the radiator; just add enough coolant to cover the core. If the system is completly drained, that is about 11 qts, not 12. Have you checked to make sure nothing is blocking the fins, like debris from bushogging? Are you using a fan shroud? If you're seeing water moving in the radiator, it is not overfilled & nothing is blocking the fins, I'd suspect it might be time to get the radiator cleaned & rodded.
