Rebuilt Hydraulic Pump............

So, i ordered a pump rebuild kit and rebuilt the pump this weekend. Worked great, got the hydraulics back in working condition. I am wondering though, what would cause a major leak like i had (see previous post by me). I did not see anything that was out of whack or damaged in any way.

When i put the pump back on the tractor, i did the prime thing but wasn"t getting anything out of the hose while trying to prime it. I checked my fluid level and had to add in about 3 quarts of fluid. Once i did that i tried to prime it again and still got nothing.

I took some fluid and poured it in the hole in the pump for priming it and it came to life, started spitting a steady stream right away. I let it run for a minute or two just to make sure all air bubbles were out of system. I think now the hydraulics work better than they did previously. It will now lift with no hesitation at idle speed and it didn"t before.

Just thought i"d post my victory over the tractor this weekend.

Congratulations on a job well done. I recently restored my 43 2N, At the time I did not mess with the hydraulics because they were working fine. Recently I notices a drop down after the tractor is off and a load is on it. I guess I will be searching the site for tip on what you just did. Did you hone your cylinder and or replace the rings/seals?
