Started the 9N this morning - the clutch would not release - I could not put it in gear - the linkage looks fine and is operating properly - Ran the tractor last week - might have slightly experience that same problem, but them it released(?) and everything operated OK. Is the pressure plate stuck to the clutch disk? How do I fix - Any advise?

Thanks - your suggestions plus archives helped solve the problem - fixed it today. Also cut a 2x4 to fit between seat and depressed clutch peddle....that will be standard procedure when it's shut off from now on. Thanks again.

Block the clutch pedal down and put it in fourth with the engine off.
Get a helper and each of you grab onto a rear wheel and rock the tractor back and forth as violently as you can :-).
Should free up the clutch.
From now on I suggest blocking the clutch pedal down after you put her away for the night...

What you have is a not un common N series event. You have it nailed, the clutch disc is stuck to the fly wheel. If you check the archives there are several rodeo cowboy ways to break it loose. I got lucky once with a socket on the crank nut, the rear tires blocked, and a helper holding the clutch and brakes with the trans in fourth gear. I wouldn't use any cheater as I can imagine a lot of things you can break this way.

Your mileage may vary
