Champion batteries from Walmart have proved disappointing to me over the years....I now use Autozone battery in truck. When battery fails in tractor I will probably check theirs out for a replacement.

A Interstate group 35 izz a direct replacment fer a group 1
1) L-8 7/8 W-6 7/8 H-8 3/4

35) L-9" W-6 7/8 H-8 3/4
"Tip" If you have a OEM Top hold down make sure the top hold down does not contact the battery post, on a 8N I trim a little cut out on the top hold down just to be on the saft side. I have no idea were the others come up with their bats group size as being the same cuzz they aint.

Not by my interstate bat catalog, not by a group 1 and a 35 I have set'in here on the floor, actually a group 1 izz 9" long and the 35 izz exactly the same size. The only difference izz the G-1 has the post staggered on the 35 to post are on the same side. The G-1 post are set in from the side ‘bout a 1” , the 35 post are out near the sides that’s why I recommend you timmg the top frame a little to be safe. The 35 my be a tad higher 1/8", I kin post a pix if need be of the 2 bats and the 35 installed in a N, I do not need to read the BCI cuzz I have’em rite cheer in front of me.

A group 22f battery is the same size as the group 1 6v. You do not need a high amp 6v to start an 8n. I think the modern day group 45 will work also.

anchises, you deside which is closest to Group 1

Group 1----- L=9 1/8" W=7 1/8" H=9 3/8"

Group 25/35-L=9 1/16" W=6 7/8" H=8 7/8"

Group 22f----L=9 1/2" W=6 7/8" H=8 5/16"

Group 45----L=9 7/16" W=5 1/2" H=8 15/16"

Group 25 is the 12V closest to the physical size of the original 6V. CCA isn't really an issue, any 12V battery will have far more CCA's than a N will ever need.

I use wal mart batterys in my tractors all the time. As far as what battery the biggest CCA you can find that will fit in is how I do it. Sorry I don't remember the number of the battery, but I use the same size battery in most of my tractors and I have more tractors then I do batterys

WalMart doesn't make batteries. They just sell others batteries, and run locals out of business then raise their prices to cover the losses of some other WalMart that's undercutting local businesses to run them out of business.....
