I need to replace my throttle plate on my 52 8N. It is smooth as glass! Anyway, how do you remove the throttle? I see a spring type assembly attached to the bottom of the throttle rod, but how do you get it apart? I didn't want to tug to hard on it for fear of breaking or bending something.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Paul

Bob is correct. But, you also have to completely remove the 1/4" square head bolt from the pinch bracket, as the main shaft is notched and the bolt will keep it from pulling out. You may have to spread the bracket a bit with a flat head screwdriver (like you would a battery terminal) to get it to loosen up the pinch on the shaft. Now is a good time to replace the ball bearing under the round tip of your throttle arm (or add it if it is completely missing).

One other thing - your triangular shaped throttle plate has a back plate that the three bolts screw into. If you do not remove the dash, this bracket will fall behind the dash and getting the new one aligned will be an exercise in futility.

Good luck,
Dan

The lever at the bottom clamps on, with a pinch bolt.
