Just got a five foot bush-hog for my 9N and found a overrideing clutch that went from 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 shaft. but the PTO shaft on the tractor is to short to get the pin for the clutch threw
Is there a 1 1/8 to 1 1/8 extension available.

Had the same problem, but I ground the pto housing down a bit. Never did have the cap, so I'm not sure if it would still go on or not. Problem solved though.

I had the exact same problem on my 1951 8N. My brand new ORC (from AgriSupply) looked like it fit and I beat the heck out of the pin, trying to get it through. Finally shined a light through the hole and saw that it was about 1/8 inch shy of lining up. Sheesh! There was plenty of extra material on the front side of the ORC, so I spent some quality time with the bench grinder and shortened it a bit. Been working fine since.

As Dell says, changing out the PTO shaft is another way to go, but expensive. Not only do you have to buy the new shaft, but also another ORC to fit the 1 3/8 shaft. I would try the grinder first...

I've noticed that some o fthe "QD' ones won't fit the early housings.. but you say yours is a pin on. I think the others naile dthe problem. if it is an old ORC.. I might see if i could 'doctor' it and make it fit..

I had the same thing, had already used the ORC on my NAA and could not take it back. It being Saturday PM and all closed,I put her in the vise and with the 4.5 inch grinder took off some steel. Made it fit. Has worked mowing 2 times now. Worked for me,but if not already used I would have returned and got different one. Joe

Bill..... ...NO EXTENSION!!!

Unfortunately, some of the very early 9N's have a slightly NARROWer 4-bolt PTO bearing cup. That prevents the common and NECESSARY over running coupler (ORC) from fully seating into the 4-bolt housing so the ORC coupling pin will mate/match with the thru hole in the PTO 6-spline shaft.

While you could pay a machine shop to turn-down the OD shoulder of the ORC to fit the smaller 1-1/8 cup, I would strongly suggest you concider the merits of replaceing the early 9N 1-1/8 PTO with modern 1-3/8 PTO which has the wider 4-bolt bearing holder and the 1-3/8F-to-1-3/8M ORC will fit.

Its a 4-bolt, 15-minute job to replace the entire PTO shaft, just park yer tractor nose deep innna ditch so you don't haffta drain 5-gals of hydro-tranny oil. Simple, eh? ..... ..Dell

Too short? Me thinks you were sold the wrong one.
I walked into tractor supply- it fit right on.
Maybe double check the part number on the internet to make sure its correct?
Sorry, not much help but a start till the expertine show up.
