I have removed all of the bolts from the bottom cover, and it will not come off. What else do I need to do? Another question while I"m here. Is the transmission and lift oil the same?

Snug the bolts back up, pull the pto shaft, take out the bolts again and the entire bottom cover with pump attached will drop out on your feet, it's very heavy. As suggested below, an FO-4 is a VERY prudent investment.

Same oil, there are three drain plugs.

May we presume the PTO shaft is removed??

Are you working without a MANUAL??

I am guessing the bottom cover you refer is the hydraulic pump, yes?

If it's a 9n/2n you will have to push apart the forks that connect down at the belly of the center housing / hydraulic pump. Is this your issue or will it not budge from the tractor at all???
