I'm relatively new to this. A neighbor and I inherited a 9N in quite good shape, which we use to keep our adjacent 4-acre properties and gravel road shipshape. Our problem is that the tractor is avaialble for use by several folks, and some are more careful than others. In a couple of incidents, someone has either stalled the tractor and walked away, or tried to start it without knowing how, and in either case left the ignition on. You know the story - coil burnout. I don't mind that the battery runs down. That's easily taken care of. It's the coil burnout that costs the bucks and requires a trip to the parts house. It's a 12 volt, with proper resistors, and a front-mounted distributor with top-mounted square coil. Does anyone have any suggestions how we can make this tractor able to sit for long periods (maybe days) with the ignition on, and not burn out anything? Maybe a different kind of distributor? Coil? Anything? Thanks!
