At first i thought this was a great board. My son and i would look at all the comments and hopefully learn about our ford. WE are selling the tractor and not going to associate with what appears to be a bunch of beer drinking bubbas. I am very sorry for that, I'm sure there are good people out there, i wish them well.

Once I drank a B E E R while fixing my tractor. Am I a bad person?

Once I talked about beer on the internet when I should have only been talking about tractors. I am a bad person!

Your a bad person and going to he66 . see you there. ( just kidden ) If I had all the money I spent on beer and cigars the last 25 years I could have a new Boomer or J D Tractor paid for. I think they call it priorities . That is why I still have my 8n .

Sounds to me like bob's pissed off at people who have a taste for golden suds? :-) Belch.

First off, I chat with dave#1 just about everyday on an Yahoo's Messenger. I know for a fact that he drinks about a case of Coors Light per year. Another words, he's not an alkie. :-)

Let's see, 365 days divided by 24 equals .07 beers per day that he drinks.

Belch, that's enough to get anyone stumbling drunk!

I've been here on the board 4 yrs now and nothing has changed. How long have your been here bob? 4 yrs ago we were talking about how long it takes to do a job. We measured it out in beers per job.

Jeez, can't anyone grow a sense of humor?

Tyman

In every form of human discourse, there are those who tend to take offense at anything that is counter to their personal values. There are others who tend to take things with a "grain of salt." Also in a forum such is this, there is an ebb and flow of personalities and information.

Now, there are those who chided Jesus Christ for associating with publicans and sinners(tax collectors and prostitutes and the like)and this ultimately caused enough dissent among his fellowmen that they deciced he should die for his perceived lack of propriety.

There are those who have been here long enough to develop certain "relationships." I certainly have had my feelings tromped on many times, but I have weighed the advantages over the disadvantages. I have maintained email correspondence with many of the participants here. I have learned much and I have also helped many people with the same problems I have expereienced.

This board is moderated, and tends to police itself. We don't tolerate pornography and the moderator doesn't tolerate inappropriate language. Feuds and flames are deleted. ISP addresses are posted so that trolls are minimized. A few cowardly folks will post criticism without email addresses or names. If you believe it and say it, you ought to be man or woman enough to claim it.

I have learned that self-deprecation is OK, and have tolerated those who like to have fun at "my expense," as it were. This is good-natured(usually) ribbing such as neighbors often do. The internet is a funny place where nuance and experession are reduced to code and tone and inflection are open to personal interpretation. You can't get too involved in it.

I do not drink. I am not a drunk. I don't think Dave#1 is a drunk either. But I am not going to condemn his because he likes folks to think he is a party animal.

If you stay here long enough, things will settle down and you can read all you want to about serial numbers and 12-volt conversions and even follow my long-suffering 8N restoration to its ultimate conclusion. Just as neighbors who gather at the country store or local diner to shoot the bull, this forum provides a place for us to garner information and have a little bit of fun as well.

So, if you go or if you stay is up to you. You don't owe anybody here anything, nor does anyone here owe you anything. I personally think it would cutting off your nose to spite your face, but it's your nose.

Having said all of that, how much do you want for the tractor?

This board is moderated, and tends to police itself..... ...Then some of this needs to be done. Theres a post of how many beer referances there are on this board. Whats the count of how many people have left the board because of this? 5-10-15 more? Ive been on here enought to know when some have had too many, even at 6 in the morning, and everybodies got a taste of their biligerant tongue. Just joking or having a good time on friday, guess what theres other jokes, Ive posted several. Guess what,I drink, cuss and a few other things, but I know how to act civil out in public.(yes this is the public, just ask the guy who posted the nude picture)

I think the key word is moderated. Like moderation. Not censored, nor censured. Yes, the board does police itself. I don't see anything in the rules about beer references. And if you take time to count the posts and compare the total to the ones about beer etc., you'll find the tractor posts way ahead. And if you are perspicacious, you will learn to avoid any posts by those for whom you have developed such overwhelming animosity. Hearken back to the country store metaphor: when the conversation around the stove gets distasteful, do you kick the stove over, or do you find the door? A lot of this mess is just inside jokes between internet pals. Don't lose any sleep over it. And I've seen some rather surly, mean-spirited comments by people who didn't need to have a drink to be uncivil. It comes to them naturally. If I had to choose, I think I'd rather be around a good-natured drunk than a prig.(Yes, that's a real word, and it's not obscene.)

Did a search for "beer" on the different tractor brand boards at this site:
MM= 0 Olive= 0 Fordson= 1 MF= 4 Ferguson= 4 Case= 5 AC= 6 Ford= 8 JD= 18 Farmall= 52 and
Ford 9N,2N,8N= 404

Conclusion: If you want your kids to be tea-totalers get them into MM's or Oliver's and sell your N. This is a joke; if they are going to have drinking problems they are not going to start them by reading this site. AA 14 years sober. Good luck to all.

I have also had a bunch of experience with AA, and this previous post is alien to the whole concept of AA. AA's are not a glum lot, and always take the time to help other folks, instead of criticising them! I don't drink anymore, finished with that, but I don't have a problem with other folks enjoying a cold brewski. Actually, there are a couple of beers in my refrigerator right now, and they will stay there till some other person comes along to consume 'em. Don't be so short to criticise other folks!! See your sponsor. (If you have a sponsor.)
