Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas about how to remove the glass sediment bowl. I have tapped(gently) on it, and tried to lightly wedge a screwdriver under it, but no luck. It seems tightly sealed or just plain stuck. I dont know how tough it is or just how rough I can be with it. I really dont want to crack it or ruin it. I just want to clean it out good. BTW, I really enjoy reading all the posts and info you guys give here. Its good to know that even newbies like me can make some headway when you have guys like yall around.
There is a gentleman that lives in this area and he is in his 80's and he has a lot of tractor-fixin knowledge, I just wish he knew how to do a computer and be able to join in. He has also supplied me and others with some good info too. Well, that's nuff rattlin, thanks in advance for any info guys.

Ok, thanks guys. I will give a few of those ideas a try and see what comes of it. Right now I have a few other projects goin, so it might be awhile fore I get to try them. And I will try to make sure if I use compressed air, to take it off the tank first( dont wont to be the next in line to offer that warning). Yall are great!!!

Watch the compressed air. It may back flow into the tank and you could end up with a pregnant tank. Don't ask me where I got this idea.

I wuld wrap it in a shop rag and use the ball peen on it if the rubber mallet wont work like suggested.

Just had to do that on a bowl that even my favorite snake oil would not loosen.

Some times you can spray carb cleaner on it and that will help loosen it up. If you do brake the bowl its not that big a deal since they are easy to find new. I always keep a few around because of that type of problem. I've even got one that is made of metal, but I didn't like it so I put on a glass bowl and just hang on to the metal one just so I can say I have one that is sort of odd

It's possible someone has used gasket/sealer on the cork bowl gasket and stuck it real good. (grrr)
You may not get it loose without rapping the metal housing and twisting the glass bowl. If you strike the glass hard enough you certainly will break it, and it doesn't take as much as you might think. Try twisting it loose first using a rubber glove. (You've already released the thumb-screw and moved the bail out of the way, right?)

Fill it with compressed air and it may pop loose.

Don't point it at your eye when you try that! Ouch!
