I am about through with my 1950 8N project and need to replace the voltage regulator. 8N number is 285863. I have gone to two tractor supply stores and two New Holland dealers and the regulators they have are much larger then the one I have. The bolt patterns wont work, they are way too big. The voltage regulator I have measures 2.5 by 2.25. Any help in finding the correct one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for everyone help up to this point on my restoration project, the archives have been a great help. Thanks again, Ray

Rayin..... if the engine has not been changed out and that's the correct serial number for the tractor, you need 8n10505-B reg. This will come with an adapter plate that should bolt up exactly to the previous holes in the dash support. Then bolt the reg. to the plate. The original reg. for your tractor was equipped with rubber mounting pads and was mounted directly to the dash support. They don't make them like that any longer,so you will need to add the above mentioned plate.Hope this helps. don b

Not sure Dan but had genny checked at shop when I had tractor apart and checked out fine. Have new wiring harness and all wires check fine. Did test of pulling batt cable off while running and engine quit so thinking must be regulator. Ampmeter OK showes discharge when I turn on lights. Wide open to any help from this great forum. Thanks Ray
