Tie rod end

The tie rod on the right side of my tractor has a flexing problem. When I turn left it bows out a little bit and stays that way. After several left turns the right front tire is no longer pointing straight. I can push the tube straight (it is the old style that has the tube connected to the back tie rod end) and it'll work ok for awhile. Can I heat the tube and then cool to give the tube some strength or do I need to replace the whole darn thing?

lol. I have to tell you what my dad told me after I busted yet something else on mine: Son that tractor was made to pull a plow not be a bulldozer.
That said I'd go with Soundguy's angle iron stiffener idea till you were done dozing.

Thanks for the info. I do not beleive there is anything else wrong with the front end other than I am clearing 10 acres and use it to knock over some pretty impressive looking mesquite and live oak trees. It bent the first time because I got the right front tire stuck between two trunks of a live oak and played heck with it for a couple hours trying to get it unstuck. Also the little tab that is supposed to keep the wheel from going completely flat against the axel is broken off (I did not do that).

if it is bowing, you can either replace it.. or weld a piece of angle iron to it for strength. Depends if it is a farm beater.. or a working restoration.. etc.

I'm thinking along Ken's line... especially if you've got a front end loader on board. My NAA was steering funny even after I fixed the gear and retimed it. Took off the loader and I didn't know if I was going to be able to limp back to the shop. The weight of the loader was keeping me from noticing all the slop in the worn out front end.

I'm no expert at this but it sounds like you may have other issues also . I'd pick up a replacement arm & the rebuild the frontend before damaging the new arm . That center pin & bushing wear out & cause all kinds of frenzy .Like I said I'm no expert but that's what I'd do . Good luck & God bless . Ken
