Should I keep the old 8N?

I like my old 8N but have really struggled with it for 5 years when using the loader. I just bought a new tractor with loader and was wondering what to do with the old 8N. I could just keep it but wouldn't likely use it. I wouldn't get that much for it if I sold it, maybe $3,500 max, hardly enough to offset the cost of the new tractor. Any ideas?

The 8Ns are a great tractor for use in timber- they are just small enough to fit between trees in dense forested areas. I use mine all the time with a pickup bed trailer for loading firewood.

I have to imagine the loader is underpowered and limits your maneuverability- you may enjoy the 8N more without it.

I have talked about getting a bigger tractor, not that my 9N won't do most jobs but locally I have lost my last source for small bales of hay. I now have to go with big bales or haul it quite a ways. But even if I get the tractor that is now on my wish list... I could not and would not sell my 9N. Need a different tractor yes but to sell my 1940 just ain't an option. Anyways it was a gift from my wife, and what would that say if I got rid of it? Guess I will have to get her to buy me the next one too!

Bill M(OH) I have a loader that I may be willing to let go it would come with a hyd. front pump and all. I'm located in NW indiana just south of South Bend. And I would def. keep the tractor one can never have to many tractors.

If you like it, and have room, keep it. Consider removing the loader, though. You probably don't need two tractors with loaders. You may find that the N is easier and more fun to use without the loader.

You must have some other work for the 8n besides loader work? Sell the 8N's loader.

You should keep it, but you should store it at my house.
I will make sure it gets plenty of use and is maintained.

Exactly! These 8N's are like a good dog...you learn all about them and work on them and really get attached....then it seems crazy to sell the old thing.
