It would figure, I mean just figure. A guy has an interest in antique Ford tractors, works hard at learning, self education, fits the time in to work on it in place of other things to make it something of value and pride.

And so it would just figure that there are guys out there that would take a persons' hard earned money and steal it from them, promise parts, and you send them money, and you never hear from them again.

So it goes for me and a fella that I just learned has a history of dealing in stolen tractors and parts; and you guessed it ol 9N'er would find that person out of the many many fine people who enjoy these things.

Leave it up to me to call a local Sheriff and learn that they know of him, know that he takes stolen parts, and steals money.

So it goes...the good, the bad and the ugly. Even in the world or antique tractors there are people who take the fun out of it.

Needless to say the local Sheriff in Wyoming County, Pike, New York plans on paying a visit to this guy. But the Sheriff also claims that based on what they know of him; I've been scammed.

9Ner, Post the whole story including the guy's name. Let everyone know that you had a bad experience with this guy. If you have an e-mail address for him post that too. Also send a copy of your post to him. If it bothers him that much maybe (and I doubt this) you'll get your money back. Don't forget to tell us the results if you do.

Why be afraid to speak the truth. Was it not just a few days ago on this board a quote was used about evil winning if good men look away. Most of the people who take part in this forum are good men and need to know the truth.

This is just my two cents worth but it is what I believe.

9Ner best of luck to you. Hope this works out.

Pike is a little old run down community in western NY, primarily known as a good fly fishing location (the Wiscoy creek runs through it), but other than that it is a pretty depressed area. I can only imagine some shady charactor settingg up a bogus business there.

9N'er, I feel for your situation. I don't know if you remember, but I had a local business gouge me for a repair last fall. It was a 300 dollar lesson in life. I have always dealt with others the way I want to be dealt with, but not everyone plays by the same rules.

Since then, I've started to become more like a loan originator. References and security required. It goes against everything I want to believe, but such is life.

And even that cannot be tottaly safe. Case in point, a local scam artist was just busted selling fake high dollar art (6 figure stuff) on Yahoo. He had a great rating from satisfied customers!

Finally, I would like to say, that if you all wanna meet at my place, form an mounted N series cavalry, and ride to Pike for justice, count me in. I got some rock salt loads looking for a target!

Take Care
Steve

I sell parts and manuals for lots of different makes and was told if you pay by postal money order that the post office can go after the scammer for mail fraud. Don't know if that is true just read it somewhere. regards

You can file a complaint whether you pay by postal money order or not. All that's required is that the perpetrator use the mail service to defraud others. Here's the link.

9N'r-
The legal ramifications would be a real concern for me. BUT, I’m sure if you were to mention a place close to his “business” where a bunch of us could meet for Dave #1’s next steak fry, the great people on this board would be willing to scope out the location.

I’m sure if enough people stopped and chatted with the gent he’d reconsider his business practices and possibly refund your purchase.

After seeing the photo of Dave#1 and crew, that might be called the Coors Light Mafia? That photo sent shivers up and down my spine!

I am over in Onondaga County and I agree that is a bit too close to home. Some 'People' will try anything. Heck, some tried to take advantage of my father a few weeks ago and 'steal' my N.

If people spent as much time at honest work as they do at comming up with scams they would be a lot better off.

That's pretty sad. How does he get the stolen parts? I live in Monroe county, NY, and that's a little too close for me. I just rebuilt my NAA, after the research etc you mention. I would be pretty unhappy too, if I came accross this guy.

So what would be the legal consequences of posting his name, address, and picture on a "wanted" poster, for all the tractor world to see?

I think this would be a bad idea as others have said. In my case of poor dealings with a dealer in Lima, NY, if anyone wants to know, I'll send you a personal E-mail account of exactly what happenned from me. It is accurate, and you can draw your own concludsions.

I suggest 9n'er do the same.

Take care
Steve

It is my advice not to post his name on this forum or any other. The reasons for this is to avoid litigation issues. You, me and Yesterday's Tractor could all end up in court. Additionally, this Web site would be shut down and also "black listed" for future endeavors. Check with Kim but I'm sure she'll agree.

Don't post his name if it would mean the end of this web site or create any problems for yourself or anyone else. I'm sure the law enforcement can straighten him out by themselves. My previous comments were a rant on today's society and not a very good suggestion. It's just sad that a persons tractor is not even safe anymore.
