Some have got a plug on one side and a zerk on the other. If for no other reason Id put them in to keep dirt out. I took a punch and turned it to fit inside the roll pin to make it easier to knock out and put in.

yup, pin thru the grease fitting holes.
Just unscrew both fittings, and rotate the inner part of the shaft, you'll find the hole.

The overrunning shaft on my 8N is held on by a roll pin inserted thru the grease zerk holes. I have To remove both grease zerks and drive the roll pin out with a punch to remove or install. The roll pin goes thru the 1 1/8 pto shaft that has a hole thru it.

Wow no pin in yours you are lucky no one got hurt.

Apparentally mine does not have grease zerks cause I can line up all 3 holes and have not removed anything? Guess I have been lucky! Thank you for the info. And should i put grease zerks in it? It is not threaded, will I have to thread it or are there push ins for it?

I'm kind of surprised it is not threaded for zerks. If it isn't.. it may be hard to thread that hardened metal with a shally tap, without disassembly.

This is what i would do. get a new roll pin, install it.. make sure the orc functions, then grease the heck out of it. Takecorks or rubber corks, or a strip of a piece of used inner tube, and a large hose clamp Trim the corks so they seal the holes but don't contact the inner rotating portion, or lay the strip of rubber around to cover both holes.. then tighten the band clamp over the rubber or corks to hold them in. This will keep the grease in, dirt out.. and you won't have to disassemble and tap.

One thing.. wash the orc really good in a slovent to flush out any sand that is already in it.. then grease the snot out of it, repin, seal and go.
