Ande...there were actually 3 or 4 different versions of the toplink issued w/ the 9N, & later the 2N & 8N(I recently learned this). The differences had to do w/ the number of adjustment holes, slots, etc.

I do have a original top link(2 halves bolted
together)Intact but wear at the ball ends and a
chip out. Has the straps for depth stop on the old 14-1 etc mowers but a couple "hooks" broken
out. $ 18 plus some postage. Also have a '50-60's
original with lock attached. $ ?. Also have a
new end w/ lock for one of these. Thanks, Chuck

Are you talking about the bar like this, or the rocker where this bar attaches to the tractor. Here is a pic of my original top link I refirbished for my 1948 8N trailer queen.

Gee to me that looks like one of the 3 point arms (2 of them) I was in need of the center link or arm that hooks in the middle to the implement,or is this what a 48 8N middle link is suppose to look like?I bet your Ford looks sharp.

Dan, is that a single non adjustable bar or two pieces that can slide past each other to allow for length adjustment? My 8N came with the new double ended threaded links which are more or less infinitely adjustable so I have no experience with the older, original type. I'm just wondering because some day I might run across one of these originals at a barn or estate sale and if I knew what it was, I'd pick one up. Oh and btw, I've been following your engine rebuild problems on the "other" forum. But I think there are lots of interested people here that would like to know about how your machinist "stitched" that block you bought. Maybe you could post those pics here?? Anyway, good luck and hope you don't encounter any more problems.
Carl

This top link is actually two bars bolted together. There is a slot so the bars can slide some for adjustment, but there is not a lot of adjustment you can do. Mine was missing the "Y" shaped chain and I will fabricate one to hold the rocker pin and lynch pin. The ball ends on this one was in great shape, so I lucked out there.

As far as posting here, I felt I was burning the members out here with my usual contant questions, so I decided to move to the "other" board for awhile and give the users here a break :-)
