Well after reading up and tring alot of things on the forums. I have replaced the coil 12v Front mount, points, condenser, Plugs, Wires, Distributor cap and Rotor. I have 10.25 ( Ballast resistor, Was told I still needed it for 12v conv.) volts to the top of the coil. If I put a tester to the top of the coil and turn it over the Voltage dosn't drop that much. I know the points are tricky in the front mout. I can see there making full contact when I have had the distributor off. My thinking has now shifted to the weights behind all the other guts. They look worn as well one of them looks like it has a strike mark on it. At the end like it spun out too far. Thanks you guys have helped in the past lets see if we can get this one.

Rod..... ..10.25-volts at the top of a 12-volt squarecan frontmount coil is GOOD when the points are CLOSED. ....but... you do realize that you only gitt sparkies when the points open, don't you?

When the points OPEN, the top of yer squarecan ignition coil should read 12.6-volts battery volts. Iff'n it stays at 10.25-volts, eather the points NEVER OPEN or they are SHORTED at that insulative connection post that the points and condenser connect to. Check'em out..... ..Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

Well this being the umpteen time I have messed with this Dis. I am really thinking the EI is looking good. I Love this old girl and if EI will help me love her all the more I think the 150 bucks is worth it. I have read good and bad about it but most of it seems on the good side. Dell or any of the others that I see are as wise to the Ns could give me any heads up as I look at doing this conversion. Owning a N is like a good football game. Joy of victory and agony of defeat some times all in one night. Its that Love hate thing .
