I have:
6ft noname backblade, 5'WAC finish mower, 2 bottom plow, 5' Woods bush hog, 5' spring tooth harrow, Dearborn disc set, middlebuster, Dearborn FEL for my 8N's here in Ohio, plus a 6'Ford bush hog, 8' spring tooth harrow, 2 bottom Dearborn plow, front mount snow plow and some other stuff I can't remember for the 861 up on the NY farm. All cat 1 stuff will fit and is useable, assuming 8N HP is enough for them.

Currently I have and use the following implements on my 40' 9N... Ford 2 bottom plow, Dearborn 6' cultivator, Dearborn pond scoop, Woods 5' finish mower, Ford 6' brush hog, Ford 5' disc, home made boom pole, no name skid forks (use custom made skids for carry all), Ford 2 row planter, 6' no name grader blade... plus I have borrowed a few implemtents from a friend a couple times to include a post hole auger 8" and 12" augers, middle buster, and a cement mixer... Now I am looking to add to my collection of toys er I mean implements sickle bar, and a tractor jack although I don't know if that is techniquely a implement it does use the lift??? So there is about 15 implements... that means I only have 385 more to find and or use!

Tex..... ..in its hay-day, its reputed that there were over 400 catagory-1 (cat-I) 3-point implements that would fit the N-Tractor. (I never bothered to count) The 1939 N-Tractor set the standard for cat-1 implements. Therefore ALL implements made to cat-1 specifications are interchangeable. Isn't that amazing?

And as soon as the Ferguson 3-point implement patents expired around 1956, virtually ALL tractor manufacturers jumped on the 3-point implement bandwagon. As they are today.

The ASAE (American Society of Agriculture Engineers) is now the standard keeper for ALL catagorys of 3-point implements. Cat-0; Cat-1; Cat-2; Cat-3; and even Cat-4. It should be intuitive obvious that the EXTRA HEAVY DUTY cat-2 & cat-3 implements would OVERWHELM the 26hp N-Tractor.

But with readily available adaptors, clods operating high-horsepower cat-2 & cat-3 tractors can manhandle cat-1 & cat-0 implements to death..... ..Dell, the NON-authority

ALL cat. 1 3 point equipment will hook up to an 8N but not all of it can be used because of the HP limits of an 8N and also the limits of the light front end on an 8N. So you need equipemnt made for a 20-25 HP tractor and light enough for the tractor to be able to lift it also

Sure, you can use all types of 3-point implements, as long as they are designed for a tractor the same or nearly the same size and HP. On my 8N, I have an IH blade , a John Deere boom, and a well-worn brush-hog ! Only the post-hole auger is Ford! Just make sure it is the right size and will attach properly to your tractor . Good luck ! Jim B.

Hey:

I have a '47 2n named chigger. I've used a 6'disc, 4'brush hog, 5'finish mower, 6' box blade, 9" & 12" auger and boom pole. Everything has done extremely well xcept the disc. Only problem with the disc was it wouldn't cut deep enough.

What type of implements are you planning on using? You have an 8N or 9/2N?

Safety & blue skies,

DJ

diverjeff, saw that you used a 6 foot boxblade on your 2N, I have a 1952 8N and doubted if a six would work well. Been debating on a five or a six. Since you have used a six, would you reccomend a six over a five? Just courious and what do you use yours for? Thanks

Hey:

The 6' was given to me but I would recommend the 5'. The 6' is a little heavy. If I get too big a load in the box the front end gets a little light. Also, when I clutch, my hydraulics won't hold because of the weight.

Safety & blue skies,

DJ
