No need for a torch. Using a cold chisel and hammer, simply split the ring gear and knock it off of the flywheel. Will take all of about one minute. A little care will prevent notching the flywheel.

Then, send SWMBO (if applicable) shopping, and heat the new ring gear in the oven (at hottest setting) after the flywheel has chilled in the freezer for a few hours.

Have the chilled flywheel positioned conveniently near the oven, pick up the HOT ring gear with mitts or GOOD leather gloves, and drop it into place.

The tractor has to be split. This is time consuming but not difficult. After the flywheel is removed you should be able to replace just the ring gear on the flywheel. This would be considerably cheaper than a whole new flywheel.

Changing the flywheel is a fairly easy job. You must be a fairly good mechanic also. Get yourself a copy of the IT sevece F-04 tractor manual and get busy.

You must remove the hood, disconect and remove the battery. Disconect the wiring and the oil lines and throtle linkeage. Air inlet tube and exaust also need removed and unbolt the the rear tie rods and radius rods,Jack up the tractor use a jack stand on the back half use a good floor jack on the front half split the case between the engine and trans. The flywheel and clutch assembley will stay on the motor. Your alomst there remove pressure plate and the clutch and finaliy remove the fly wheel. the replace the fly wheel and put it all back again the way you took it apart.

Good luck let me know how it goes or if you farm it out to the tractor shop. I'm In central Illinois and do it all from musclecars to tractors if you need some help.
