Is that the members of this board never hesitate to voice an opinion or tell a story. I was going to ask this elsewhere but I need an answer. Has anyone heard that gophers do not like rosemary? Will it keep them out my space (yard, garden, arena, field...)if I plant a border of it? Any other plant that might work? They seem to be especially plentiful here in CA this year and I'm spending a fortune on bombs, traps and bait.

Thanks for the help

Great Horned Owls will do the trick.

Off topic but...
I like listening to the local fishing and hunting show on Sunday evening talk radio.
They were saying the other day that they like catching them gophers with a noose on the end of their fishing line. Just lay the noose around the hole and wait a little while till the gopher pops his head out. Then give the rod a quick jerk and get ready for a ride. If they are going to dig up your lawn you may as well get some fun out of them.

We moved home to Missouri 10 years ago - after 30+ years in CA. There are some things I miss about California, but getting away from the smog, Santa Anna winds, tumbleweeds, and gophers makes up for all of it. Good luck with those gophers - I shot, trapped, and poisoned 'em for 30 years and it never did much good.

We were having a problem in our front yard with Moles. But as soon as I cranked up my 49 8N and starting mowing they disappeared. I actually could not believe I got that lucky. You results may vary. Have a great week.

Yeah, I've chased them all over my place with my NAA. These critters are tough though, like all good Americans, they've rebuilt. Now they've moved to the lawn where I can't disc them up.

They are lost. You need to trap them and take them back to the turnpike. That is where they belong.

I posed a similar type question that I needed an answer on, on every forum to see what would happen. For the most part the majority passed with no comment(thats how it should be, just dont comment if you dont like it). A few forums offered suggestions. Then there was a couple that where pretty rude. So anyway with a little creative searching heres a couple solutions;: I too had a mole problem in my yard and didn't want to use poisons or traps. I solved my problem with a product called Solar Molar. It's a small, solar powered device used widely in Europe to drive moles away. You can buy it online in the US at MHS Solar - their site is>Link

I had a severe problem with pocket gophers. My alternative and 100% effective treatment is to drop a piece of Juicy Fruit Chewing Gum down into the tunnel thru every new mound, I give my word it is the only method that has worked for me.

Is that chewed or not? My neighbors all have mole problems — I had mine last year, but new neighbors behind me have a cat that gets after them this year. So I was going to pass this info on to the other neighbor but don't know that she'd chew gum.
Thank's.
