I just installed a new proofmeter and cable in my 1951 8n and it still does not work, the old one was pretty much gone but I got a new cable and meter and it seems like the end of the cable that goes into the governor does not have anything inside the governor to drive it, I looked with an inspection mirror and could not see a slot for the cable to slide into and drive the proofmeter. Is there a gear or something that goes inside the governor that I am missing or am I just a complete idiot. any help would be appreciated.

I suspect that in times past someone has rebuilt the governor with a shaft from an earlier model tractor that did not have the proofmeter on it. That shaft did not have the slot to drive a meter.

Did you know you kin buy the drive end to go on the shaft. I know the aftermarket shaft has the provission fer it and i have the drive piece in stock.
