I am trying to resolve an electrical issue with my Jubilee. The starter turns over once or twice, very doggy, then stops. The starter is less than a year old. The solenoid is 2 years old and the battery is less than a year, it is fully charged. The tractor does have a 12v. conversion on it. I have a new 4 post solenoid, that I purchased from CNH, but the currently installed on has three posts. The four post has S and I posts. Any help?

3-ponys..... ..dang, I hate NON-STANDARD electrical replacement stuff 'cuz I never know iff'n it was installed correctly, I don't care where it was purchased. I flunked mind reading, just ask my ex-wife.

Generally speaking, eather the OEM 3-terminal solenoid or most 4-terminal substitutes are realitively bullettproof, iff'n wired correctly. Iff'n you were NOT having problems until recently, I would GUESS that your 4-terminal solenoid was wired correctly. Remember, the 3-post works backasswards from most 4-post.

Usually 12-volts on the OEM 6-volt starter really ZINGS even with a weak battery.

My guess because you complain of doggy starter, (which implies to me, slow turning) you have something MAJOR WRONG with your starter motor.

And iff'n I had to guess more, that you ABUSED your starter motor by EXCESSIVE starter cranking time trying to start your engine, OVERHEATING your starter motor and THROWING solder from your starter armature WINDINGS. And the ONLYWAY you will find out is to remove your starter motor, and diss-assemble for inspection. And repair is by replacement $250 (not cheap)..... ..respectfully, Dell

Have you got another battery you can swap in, and try? With batteries, age, and "fully-charged" are not as important as a "load test", or "does it actually crank the tractor"?
