I'm trying to put my Ferguson 14-AO-28 plow back together. Everything's apart, blasted, primed and ready to go except for plow bolts. Probably half of the originals are still usable if necessary, but I have been unable to find correct replacements. The plow had 22 bolts 7/16-20, 1" long, and 4 bolts 7/16-20, 1-1/4" long. All the local ag and bolt stores seem to have are 7/16-14, 1-1/2" long. Sweigard has some 7/16-20 bolts, but they are 1-5/8" long and not threaded all the way up to the head. They might work for the 4 longer bolts.

Anyone know of a possible source for the correct bolts? Any opinions on using the coarse threaded bolts and nuts?

Also, would you paint the plow Ferguson Gray or 8n Gray?

Ken...for what it's worth I used the course-thread plow bolts(from TSC)on both of my Ferguson plows. They had the 1" & 1 1/2" bolts & they work fine. The tough ones for me to find are the BIG ones going thru the landslides.

Do you have a serial # on your plow?

I'm staying w/ Ferguson gray on mine.

1.) There is only ONE "l" in LANDSIDE.

2.) I can't help with FINE thread plow bolts, but for COARSE ones, Deere has a great selection:

7/16" X 1" = Deere Part # 10H1071

7/16" X 1.25" = Deere Part # 10H1072

3.) Do you know the size and length of the LARGE ones you mentioned for the landside?

Bob...I must have had a brain-lapse, usually I am cracking up at other people adding the extra "L" in that word.

Also, forgot to mention those plow bolts I got at TSC came w/ a locknut.

The large plow bolt for the landside is a 5/8"-18 x 3 1/4" flat head, sq. neck.

I shouln't have even commented on the "landside", it's just that knowing anything about the parts of a plow has become a "lost art"!

Once again, there's no fine thread choice, but Deere has the 5/8 X 3.25 plow bolts, part # 09H1768.

Thanks for the info, Bob, & I know what you mean about the "lost art".

There is a Deere dealer on the way to the farm. This is the first time I've had a reason to stop there.

Whether or not anyone is a Deere fan, their parts system is second to NONE. The dealers have hardware and bearing cross-references, IF the parts guys are willing to get them out.

The jdparts.com site has a parts search by part "specs", and that's where I checked on the plow bolts.

(At the dealer I'm signed up with, the large plow bolts are $2.00 each.)

As with everything these days Deere parts often aren't cheap, and they have quite a "rep" for that. However, I did find one exception this summer.

I needed a throwout bearing for an 860, with the dual clutch. The local NH dealer priced it out @ about $97.00. (I wonder if they made a mistake?)

A local auto parts store I buy a lot of parts from came up with about $35.00.

NAPA, in another town, wanted $48.00.

Just for the heck of it, I punched the Aetna Bearing number into jdparts. Their price was about $22.00. I ordered it, and it came in an AETNA box, with a Deere part # sticker on it, same AETNA part number on the bearing, as the original. So, you never know who will have the best deal.
