Wagner Loader hyd cyl problem?

My Wagner load has suddendly stopped going all the way down. When I try to lower the arms, it travels to about 2" from the ground. The right cylinder seems to stop. It's almost as if there is something in the cylinder that is keeping it from retracting all the way. Any ideas.

This poor rig as seen some heavy use in moving rip rap.

Thanks.

if i remeber right there's a large nut on the end of cyl holding the packings of oil seals and stuff. very possible it has come off if so it's not working on it's own power but with help from the working cyl. does loader seem weak? if so take one pinn out of cyl and see if it works on its own.good luck

Thanks for the advice. I'm located in Maryland and the problem started with temps in the 80's. No ice.

The problem also started during regular light usage- picking up a small load of 2x8 trash after Ernesto. Perhaps 15 pieces about 6' long. Not a big load.

When I lower the rig, it sounds like there is a metal object inside the right cylinder (not the bucket cylinder) that keeps the arm from going down the last few inches.

Thanks for all the suggestion so far!

Dal

My first thought, since it has recently seen a lot of heavy loads is that the cylinder might be bent. Inspect the cylinder closely.

Ice, maybe? Did water somehow get in and freeze?

Good thought, but Illinois is not quite cold enough for that solid of freezing yet. Notice I said "yet"?

Excuse my ignorance, but how can you tell that "Popster" is from Illinois? From previous posts? There must be more than one way to tell.

I tried to figure this out before I replied, as I am from a part of North America where ice is now a problem.

Anyway, the answer would be interesting to me, thanks.

Poopster,
Howie is right.
I would put loader in down position
and crack the hose and let a little
fluid out.
If it still doesn't go down then
Hank is right.
Use a propane torch to apply a LITTLE
heat to the cylinder to melt the ice.
