I recently purchased a 1951 Ford 8N with a Howard or Rotary Hoe reduction gear box. It has some gears that are damaged. Does anyone have any info on this setup? And are parts avalable?

I only have a Howard for the 100"s/1000"s right now and it is in perfect condition. NO "parts units" in stock. Bearings ARE available BUT, gears and shafts are NOT. I do know a guy up your way that has several 8N/Fergies that have the Howard gears in them but you MAY end up buying the tractor to get to them. Of course, with enough $$ ANYTHING is replacable.

BP...one of the guys on this forum, JimNcal, has a Howard or two. Not sure if he has any spare parts.

BP:

Though I have not owned a Howard, I have heard from others that parts for these are nearly unobtainable.

That said, HVW has given you good advice. John Smith is certainly a good person to ask.

You might want to contact John Smith by email if you haven't already.
