Well as all Front mount owners know or should know that you cant take a ditch or hill wrong. The rocker will come up and hit the cap and rotor and do bad things. If anyone has come up with a nice fix for this I would love to hear it. Thanks

Most of these old tractors need a liitle more than just replacing the pin and bushing. Often the bushing is worn thru and the center axle bushing hole needs weld repair. Sometimes the front axle support pin holes are wasted. I have been tring to find a shop to weld repair some center axles. Machine shops around here do not want to stop production for 1 or 2 small jobs. Then the other day a welder friend of mine called looking for some work. So I am going to have him repair a couple center axles and afront support. Anyway, you may find out there is more to it than just replacing a pin and bushing.

You can weld or bolt a shim to the front axle support on the opposite side of the support from the distributor cap. (left side) where the axle normally comes in contact with the maximum angle stop on the support. This is the easy way to fix it and a lot faster than replacing the bushing.

As the others said.. it's not a flaw / manufacturing defect..... it's a lack of user / owner maintenance.

Fixing it right means repalacing the kingpin, bushings, and axle/support parts, if needed.

Making it work without fixing it means welding stops to the axle, or widening the stance of the front tires.

Rod..... ..yep, kinda hard on the #2 nipple of the frontmount distributor. It ain't a design flaw, its just plumb wore out front axle kingpin. ($20, cheap As wears out even faster iff'n yer tractor gottza FrontEnd LOADER. Sometimes you can WIDEN-OUT the front axle a couple of boltholes and reduce the angle so it doesn't quite hit the distributor nipple, buts thats just a bandaide..... ..Dell

Rod, my old tractor did that every time I got in a small dip or bump. Replaced the pin and bushing in it"s front end and no more caps broken or knocked off. I did not put any washers on the pin because it had none to start with. Might help I don"t no, don"t need them works fine for me like this. The washers won"t hurt any thing if you put them in. Good luck.
