Here is a sherman hoe on an 800.
It runs off a PTO hanging pump.
The front loader runs off the
front mounted pump.

Backhoe on a "N" yes they do work...
1950 8N, backhoe and loader both run of front mounted pump.
"DUNK" - if you want one, just make one, thats what i did..20 years ago and it's still working..

Hey dlplost I would like to see your plans if I could, my e-mail is open. I would like a backhoe and might attempt to build. I like the idea of running off front pump as I already have a loader.

There really are no plans as such, I just got brochures for backhoes and looked at them to make it.
Boom is 2 pieces of 8" channel welded together and dipper is 6" channel. Hydraulics all came from Northern Hydraulics (Northern Tool now). pump is 11 gpm.
It does NOT connect to the 3 point hitch.
There is a small frame thats bolted to the tractor that stays on all the time, the Backhoe attaches with 6 3/4" bolts, to that. Takes aboout 15 min to put it on or take it off.

Yep - a spare time welding project. I think I'll knock one out after Thanksgiving dinner rather than watch a little football. Help burn off some xcess calories ;-)

Very nice!

It sounds to me like he is stating that the internal pump on the tractor for the three point hydraulics does not work. This would mean that you couldn't raise a brush hog, grader blade etc.. but the backhoe should work fine. If your interested contact the seler to confirm this. If it were closer I would be all over it but with fuel cost what they are, oh well I think you understand.

I believe that is a Sherman backhoe.
It is run off a hyd pump on the pto.
I looked at a 600 with that same backhoe on it on Sunday. I believe every place that could leak did
And every part that could be welded was.

I sure do hope someone knows all about this, and will explain how a 9N is running a backhoe.

I just can't imagine it running on the normal hydro pump that came in these N tractors in the belly.

Is there a pump attached to the front of the engine, or to the PTO?

I'm waiting with you on this one!!

Well, I'll be durn!!!

I hope you don't mind me posting the link, and hope I don't cause folks to bid against you. It is easy to find on ebay though.

He seems to say the internal "normal" hydro is disabled, or removed.

He says the loader is operated by a pump on the front of the engine, and the backhoe is operated by a pump on the pto.

I would love to have it!!

I would want to see it before I bought it.

It may as well be in China to me as to be in MN.

Dunk, I have an 8N with a backhoe on it. It runs off a front hyd pump. The brand name of the backhoe is Scout.

That is cool, old!!

I wanna backhoe and loader.

I need a backhoe and loader.

I'm not sure I want one on an N tractor.

I have my eye out for a close in GA reasonably priced real back hoe loader tractor. I can work on it.

I can have two tractors, I hope!!

I wanna diesel backhoe loader.

I have to get out of the house more, and do some looking around.

Theres a picture of my backhoe in the web page. It will dig a hole almost 18 feet deep but is slow. Also its a trip to drive it some place since not matter what the front wheels are always bounceing off the ground and forget going up a hill back wards useing the tranny. We call it the NERD because its does some funny things at times

Well if you think that was funny just stop by some time and you can drive it around some then you will really get a good laugh, by the way you can't fall off of it the way its made. You have to be part monkey part octopuss to get on it and run it.

Front loader pump, which he says also works the 3 point lift.

Backhoe with pump that works off PTO.

Looks legit to me.

If what he says is true, it matters not, that the internal pump isn't there.
