8N ignition switch

My tractor came with a aftermarket automotive ignition switch. I replaced it with a switch that is suppose to be a 8N replacement. When it is mounted, the "ON" position (key cannot be rremoved)is vertical and the "OFF" position (key can be removed)is horizontal. Is that correct? It seems odd to me but since the switch hole has the flat and the switch has a corresponding flatr, there is no adjustment that I can see. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a mixed bag. Thanks for all of your input. Guess I will just leave it as is.

All my Ns have it so when on its up and down and off its laying flat all of them have always been that way. My 841 is also that way

I have a high capacity toggle switch, of course my N stays in a steel building "shop", that is guarded by 15 dogs and a shotgun...

You can always loosen the locking nut and spin the lug.

Beats me..... .my 50 frontmount w/ what looks to have the OEM switch is like that. The other two, w/ aftermarket replacements 'like the OEM switch' are just the opposite.
