While you have the side cover off, be sure to look down in the bottom toward the base of the pump. Lots of turbulence means your safety valve is leaking. Replaced one on my Dad's 2N a couple of weeks ago and now it will stay up for hours. I took the side cover off and looked in toward the upper side around the ram cylinder and never saw anything more than an occasional drop. This is normal. Then I noticed the turbulence in the bottom. I put the rear wheels up on a pair of automotive ramps (to kep from having to drain the oil) and pulled the PTO shaft. I did not have an offset 11/16" wrench at that time(I do now). Using an 11/16" wrench I was able to reach in and replace the safety valve(feels and kinda looks like a spark plug)..Really tight and you have to do it all by feel but it can be done. And BTW I am not one of the experts but they have taught me everything I know. This is the best forum you will ever encounter....HTH

If you have your position control in any intermediate position I would
expect it to fall when the motor is off.
If you want it to stay up you will have
to move it to the FULL UP.
I can load the FEL with firewood, position
it over my front porch railing , shut off the
9N and unload the wood.
If I take longer than 15 minutes it will wind up resting on the rail.

Actually I have to move that wood to the barn to
split the wood with one of those $300 Harbor
Freight 3 ton electric hydraulic log splitters.
I can reload the split wood right back into the trip bucket to move to the porch.

I have a rear dirt scoop turned towards the back
with a chain across the opening and filled with
cinder blocks. The chain keeps the blocks from
falling out. I have the arms adjusted so the scoop
is a few inches from the ground and the lift
arms are chained to the axle.

Those are HUGE logs (cross-section)!!! How big is the furnace you use? (Wow! And boy would I like to be able to burn ones that size without having to split them!) --Dawn

Pto needs 2/b running to operate 3pt.
Immediate leak down can be fixed. Take left side inspect port off. Leaks from above = bad piston rings &/or scored cylinder.
Swirling in the oil = leaky relief valve.
