Gave the N it's annual bath - now it won't start. I probably sprayed the coil/distributor area - so I pulled it apart and dried it out, touch up the contacts on the cap and rotor, etc. still no spark. Any suggestions?

I gave mine a bath today too and it wouldn't start afterwards. As it was a very warm day and tractor was setting in direct sun light, I just waited about 2 hrs. Went out and she fired right up. I'm sure some water got in somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try and make it out to the shed tomorrow to see if I can get anywhere with it. I'll keep you posted.

Watch the ampmeter as it turns over. If it pulses your points are making contact as they open and close. If so problem is in high voltage side. If not check for voltage at battery side of coil.

IF you don't get the amp meter to pulse (points open - close) and you have a front mount dist. See if battery voltage is at the top of the coil. If so, double check the pig tail on the coil. Is it long enough to reach screw?

Let us know, Jim
