1, is there a gasket between upper and lower houseing,as my parts manual dont show one?
2,manual shows 3 inner&outer washers, is this for shimming?
3,any way to add a lube access? thanks again RP

Gettcha some gasket paper the same thickness and make your own. Do you know how to do that?

You notice that hole in the bottom of the steering casting. That is to allow oil to "spash" into the chamber.

The washers are really shims on steroids. Originally came in a variety of thicknesses to adjust gear lash but last I looked were no longer available. I turned some custom ones up to the specific size I needed. Give me a yell if you get stuck.

I rebuilt mine too. It looked like I might need a sector gear, but once i got inside, It was the shaft and bushings. The shaft can get worn and seem to lean to one side slipping out more than the other. I used a large slim washer between the left sector gear and housing to shim the slop out of it. That saved a lot of $$. No new gear needed. Don't worry. Once you open it up you'll see how simple it is, and just what is and is not worn out. You might want to look inside before you buy stuff. you'll need new rope seals. order the IT manual. Your gonna need it for other things too.

Take your time and always WITNESS mark your sector gears. Infact , I always "witness mark" everything like starters, gennys, motors, gear teeth, etc. Actually speeds-up the job.
