I saw a couple of days ago that someone said that 9n got their name because they started being built in 1939,2ns in 1942 and 8ns in 1948. If this is true I have a 48 instead of a 1947.My book says sn# 1- 37907 are 1947 what are the facts. Thanks Guys

My 8N SN34055 is the same ,made in 47 called a 48 model. But it has the late 47 clutch linkage.

In 1947, The Ford N-Tractors got blessed with McNamera's Whiz Kids and decreed that tractors follow the automobile production year scheme. Therefore, for marketing purposes, the last half of the real year is really the first half of the next year.

So you have the braggin' rights to a 1947 8N that continued being produced until mid-1952 as a 8N. And does it really make any difference 50 years later? ..... ...Dell

Tractor production runs were normally scheduled to start and end at or near the years end. The introduction of the 8N in mid-year 1947 was an exception due to production delays and the slow demise of Henry Ford.

1948 model, built in '47. Released early, just like they do with cars.
