8N had been woring fine! Yesterday, I cranked the ignition button and the starter kicked in but I was unsuccessful in getting the tractor started after choking just little. Seconds later, I touched the ignition button to try again and got nothin! Did my coil go bad or starter or what?

It makes no sense to ask if your starter has gone bad, if your engine was turning over when you activated your starter.

Using that logic, you may think that an electric lamp is bad because it won't light up when you flip the switch while the power utility grid is 'down'...

Before I did anything, I would check the spark and see if it is a fat, blush white spark. If it was then I would know that the primary ignition circuit was OK. If I understand you correctly, when you tried to start again, you didn't get the starter to actuate. Is your battery fully charged? Are all the connections "bright and tight"? Is there voltage across the starter switch when you actuate it? Is the voltage to the starter switch?

Check and clean all your connections first then report back. Bad connection could be the whole problem you describe.
