i just installed a new wiring harness from Tractor Supply and I had to get a new ammeter in the terminal style.
I have one wire closest to steering column going to the bottom of the block and I have tried to run one to the battery side of the starter and still no hand movement.
Anyone got any suggestions ?
6 volt positive ground, 1949 8N

Thanks,
Johnny

One wire goes from the solinoid to the ammeter, the other goes from the lug on the terminal block that has the ignition switch wire connected to it. Assuming, of course, that nobody has screwed up the wiring on the tractor! Hook it up like that; if the meter reads backwards, reverse the wires or stand on your head to read it. :)

Thanks Bruce,
now the solinoid you refer to is the small wire
on the starter soliniod that goes back to the starter button ?
Thanks,
Johnny

No..... the wire from the starter thumb switch goes to the center post of the solinoid, the little tiny post that faces the block. The wire I'm refering to is attached to the battery cable post of the solinoid. It should have the cable from the negative side of the battery on it, along w/ the wire to the ammeter.

OK, I"ve tried it several ways and it will not work any way I"ve tried so I went back to the wire through the back of the original and it works great.
It doesn"t look very good but it works,,,,, ,,thanks for all of the help.
Johnny
