I am really almost embarassed to post such a poor pic of this implement - but it is the only one I have presently and I just snagged my wifes digital she always carries with her to get it where it lays now. If you look hard, you can see the solid "legs" that hold the blades in place. There are no springs on the legs to give it some "give" when it hits something hard like I have seen on the Dearborn versions. These legs just bolt straight up to the cross bars. The blades on the bottom of these legs are not thin like the ones in your pic - they look like an arrowhead that is bent slightly down the middle lengthwise if that makes sense.

I will take some better pics when I get a chance to free it from it's junk pile prison :-)

Dan

Dan, your (new) cultivater has the old style spike shovels on it. My Dad has one just like it and it had some of those still on it till I changed them all to the modern sweep shovels to help him get done cultivating one year. Does yours have the knife style or the disk style stabilizer on it? Greg NE

Not sure what you are asking on the stabilizers (remember - I am a city boy), but if you are talking about the center bar that goes down behind the implement and to the ground - I am assuming it is the knife style as there is no roller or disk on there (or it is missing).

The stabilizer is normally in the center right below the center link for the 3pt and right below the front angle iron. Most of these cultivators had the knife style, just wondering. They help keep it from moving side to side in the crops--cuts down on cultivator blight ;-) Greg NE

Nice find Dan. This appears to be the same cul as the two row Dearborn cul that was very poplar in N.Ga. until all the houses took their space. It normally came with 11 rigid shanks that could be moved for different row spacing or removed for 1 row. I always dreaded when Dad said, time to cul. It was time to turn rear wheels around and extend front axles. Still a very poplar imp for part time farmers.
