Ford 8N 3 point hitch with 5 foot Ford finish mower on it will not lift the mower up after 1-2 hours of mowing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Roger

Go thru Jerry/MT diagnosis if all seems ok replace the safety relief valve. Be段n extremely hard headed its has been the last thang I replace, not enny more I just had one beat me up, would not lift good hot, would leak down fast, even had jump段n action to it when lift段n a heavy implement. After 2 pumps no leaks from the lift cylinder or enny weres I replace the relief valve and like magic it werks great. One of the symptoms I had wuz wif a bush hog lifted engine run段n PTO ingauged I could jump on the rear of the deck sorta like I wuz try段n to bounce the front wheels off the ground and it would drop a few inches then lift back up. At first it cleared out the relief valve and werked great fer a day then the problem came rite back. So I talked to Zane and he said when he has a problem like this he replaced the relief valve, I did problem Fixed. Heres a reply I mailed to弾m

I got up close and personal wif my 52, changed out the relief valve in the pump. I am not sure weather it wuz the valve or that it needed a big old hug. Left arm in the right inspection hole, right arm in the left hole, face in the seat, short stubby gear wranch. As of 8:20 last night the bush hog izz still up. from now own all pumps git a new relief valve. Least I have learned allot from this"in.

BTW a relief valve izz cheap and not worth take"in a chance on, They live a hard dirty life.

I'm presuming that you have adequate fluid in the hydraulics and the pump is engaged.

Pull the right side access plate off and with the engine running and the pump engaged and the lift conrol in the lift position, look for fluid running out of the lift cylinder. (Under no circumstance place your hand in the hydraulic reservoir with the engine running.) You'll have to look up to see it. Anything more than a few drops is indicative of leaking seals or a cracked cylinder. I the right hand corner there is a pipe that runs up to the lift cover. See if there's any fluid comming out in copious ammounts near the top of that pipe. (You may need to use a flashlight and a mirror to do this.) The seal could be blown. If that looks ok,check to see if the relief valve is stuck open. It's pretty noisy and is located on the pump body I believe so they'll be a bunch of fluid swirling around. Shut the engine off and feel around the bottom of the control fork to make sure that it's attached to the control valve. They sometimes come off. Move the control lever from full up to full down an make sure the control fork is moving in response. That's all I can think of. hope it helps you.
