how much weight will an 8N loader pick up?

How much weight will an 8N loader pick up? I know it will depend on if I have fluid in the rear tires (which I don"t) or how much weight I put on the back, but I was curious as to what they are rated for and what I could safely pick up if properly counter balanced.

Thanks.

I used my 8n with a wagner loader to haul rocks to build a stone wall about 20 yrs ago, I don't know the weight but with a full load of rocks the tractor would teeder todder on the front wheels over any bump or ridge, the rear tires were filled with cal also. I don't know how the front end stood the weight!

Dearborn loader model 19-22 is rated for 750#.
If you dial up the pressure screw beyond capacity, it will pick up most anything you desire until the engine stalls out trying to drive the pump. The question then takes another direction in the form of how much stress is being placed on the front axle? After that gets welded once or twice, you back off the pressure screw to the proper setting...

just like OLD says, it depends on a lot of things.
Here"s my 1950 with the counter weight off of the back of our TD9 loader. The block of steel weighs 1,500#. Rear tires are loaded, 300# of wheel weights on the rears, and a wood spliter on the 3 point.
This tractor normally has a 1,800# backhoe mounted on it. With the backhoe on it, the loader will lift and move up to about 4,000#
(And just to prevent any forest fires, the motor is off and Daddy was just out of the picture to the right.)

old's answer is right on: there are many "depends" involved. I've got the very rugged Wagner loader on my 8N, with fluid in the tires and extra weight over the 3pt. I've picked up a 3'x 3' granite boulder with a chain using the loader, and I'm sure that's well over a 1000 lbs. I had to use the chain because the rock wouldn't fit into my gravel scoop! And last fall I used the loader to move 12" diameter pine logs up to 20' feet long when I was yarding them up. They were freshly cut and quite heavy. Hope that helps you.

A lot depends on the loader, the size cylinders it has on it, the type of hyd pump, and the things you said. I know the loader on my 8N see pictures of it in my web site will lift 1000lbs plus, how much more then 1000lbs I don't know but I do know it will lift that much and didn't have any problems doing that.. If you look at it in the web site you will understand why I have no problems with rear end weight.

My Dearborn 19-8 picked up 800#. It had no weight on the back and lost traction on a slight grade. I would'nt want to make a habit of lifting that much.

Well I know on my 8N there is no way I could eer loose traction on the rear end and still have the loader lift any thing, but with a back hoe on back you can understand why. Now my 841 has a heavy duty loader on it, fluid in the tires and a back blade on it with 6 suit case weights on the blade and I still have problems with lifting the rear tires off the ground if I'm not careful. Oh by the way I also have some of the same problems you have as far as gearing on the 8N. If I want to back up any hill and I do many any hill I have to pull it up with the back hoe or its will not go there with out the engine dieing on me
