converted last year from 6V to 12v (1951 8N). The wiring to the lights have been cut under the hood. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this? Do just the bulbs just have to be changed out to 12v or the whole light assembly? Any advice would be great. Thanks

I am planning to add a relay also, so the switch wires will carry very little current and the lights will get maximum power. Some car owners add relays to their headlight circuits to brighten up the lights; the mftrs cheaped out on $2 relay! You can buy a 'Bosch-Type Relay' at pretty much any auto parts store. Go to 'www.partsexpress.com' and look in the technical resources section to find exactly how to wire the relay; they have a cryptic numbering scheme and the wiring is NOT obvious.

Or, you could wire the two 6V bulbs in series.

You should be able to find 12-Volt bulbs for the lamps you have.

Many of us think the power for the lights should be sourced from the OTHER TERMINAL on the terminal block, so the lighting current doesn't pass through the ignition switch.

If the light switch you have doesn't have a built-in fuseholder, it's a good idea to add an in-line fuse in the wire from the junction block to the ignition switch with a 15 or 20 Amo fuse.

Also, in addition to not running the extra current through the ignition switch, when you connect the headlight switch to the BAT terminal, you can use the lights with the ignition off.
